Jumbo Tissue Costs More |
Most people imagine that tissue on a large jumbo roll would be cheaper than a small roll on a per piece basis, but this is not so! To prove this we found three websites from three different countries that quoted the price of jumbo versus small rolls. In each case they quoted the length of tissue on a jumbo in metres which we multiplied by ten which allowed each "piece" to be 100mm (4") long, so we then knew how many "pieces" there were on the jumbo roll, then multiplied by the number of rolls in a carton. We did the same for the small rolls. Here is the result: |

What about in Australia?

Notice
with Tork the small rolls are nearly half price while with Livi they
are less than half price. But the cost saving of small rolls doesn't
stop there. Jumbos are also very wasteful.
A janitor cannot change a jumbo until it is finished. He has to balance the chance of the roll running out before his next round against the waste of tissue. This means he frequently has to replace a roll that still has up to 1,000 tissues on it! So in reality a 6,000 piece roll is only effectively 5,000 or 5,500! Meanwhile Rollfast Mark II works with nil waste - the user cannot access a new roll until the roll in use is completely finished. We believe the tissue saving aspect of Rollfast is anywhere from 25% to 60%. Footnote: jumbos were first introduced to counteract pilfering of small rolls
that was rife 40 years ago. Theft of tissue was over one roll per cubicle
per day on average.
